CommuniHacks
Solving community problems by starting local and building upward.
About CommuniHacks
Mission
CommuniHacks is a 24-hour hackathon where students build technology to solve real problems faced by local nonprofits and community organizations. By bringing together developers, designers, and innovators, the event creates a space where technology can directly support the needs of the community. Throughout the event, mentors support teams as they develop projects that combine creativity, technical skill, and meaningful impact.

How CommuniHacks Works
At the start of the event, local nonprofit and community organizations present problems they are currently facing. Then, each team selects one of these problems, and spends the next 24 hours designing and building a software solution. Teams present their finished projects to a panel of judges and their partnering organization at the end of the hackathon.

Project Themes
Each partner organization provides a unique challenge based on an issue they face, related to healthcare, education, finance, sustainability, or accessibility. Teams work closely with these partnering organizations to create practical solutions that can help organizations better serve their communities. Projects are evaluated based on impact, creativity, technical execution, and how effectively they address the chosen challenge.
